FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front is moving across New Zealand and an anti-cyclone is advancing on to the south-west Tasman Sea. Forecast:

Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast.—Southwest winds, fresh at times in exposed places; cold, with scattered showers but considerable fine intervals. Outlook: mainly fine and cold. Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh south-west winds; fine, except for a few showers about the ranges. Outlook: fine. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh south-west winds; isolated showers but mainly fine. Outlook: mainly fine and cold.
