Golf Club Rules
Sir, —Has a committee the power to alter a major rule in a golf club without first notifying the Provincial Golf Association (as it could mean a difference to the standard scratch score of the course) and without advertising the fact and taking the matter to a general meeting in order to give all members a chance to vote? Would the association comment?—Yours, etc., NOT SURE. May 12, 1966. [The secretary of the Canterbury Golf Association (Mr G. W. A. Green) replies: “The association would give an interpretation of a rule of golf, but any consideration of a rule of a club is a matter for the club’s committee and its members, not the association.”]
