ANGLICANS’ NEWSPAPER
Fortnightly Publication
“Church and People,” the official newspaper of the Church of England in New Zealand, will become a fortnightly from the issue of June 8 after 20 years as a monthly. “In a competitive world even a church newspaper has to stand up for itself,” states a circular being sent to Anglican churches. “News stands are crammed with journals, and television takes up endless hours of people’s time. In spite of this competition, the church has to have a newspaper, and, therefore, it has to have a newspaper which will compete.” The fortnightly issue would enable the newspaper to expand its horizons and to include news and comments not previously possible, says the circular. The subscription will be £1 a year.
