Battrick, of Britain, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, to win the men’s singles title of the Phyllis hardcourt tennis tournament at Henley-on-Thames. Oxfordshire. Gerrard was th® master against Battrick for aM but a short period towards the end of the second set when he appeared upaet by a line decision and temporarily lost control. J. Saul (South Africa) and W. Hoogs (U.S.) won the men’s doublet final, beating Gerrard and IJ?E. Fairlie, M. M.
