Road Accidents At Week-end

Fourteen persons were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital and eight were treated after accidents during the week-end.

Car Wrecked.—A girl passenger was thrown through the windscreen of a car which was wrecked when it struck a pole in the middle of Moorhouse avenue near the Christchurch Transport Board’s bus sheds at 7.10 p.m. yesterday. She is Robyn Willan, aged 17, of 78 Orbell street, who suffered facial lacerations and leg injuries. Linton Dowd, aged 18, the driver, of 24 Marriner street, suffered a severely lacerated right wrist Both were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital.

Three Injured.—When two cars collided at the corner of Mays road and Rutland street at 2.45 p.m. yesterday, three persons were injured. Irene Kibblewhite, of 37 Albany street, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head injuries. Emma Kibblewhite, also of 37 Albany street, suffered chest injuries, and Suzanne Thomas, of 6 Purdie street, leg injuries. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital.

I Car Overturns.—Paul Robert Forbes, aged 20, of 95 Creyke road, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head injuries after a car overturned in Wairakei road about 2.20 a.m. yesterday. Sandra Vickers, aged 18, of 81 Langdons road was treated for a leg injury.

Cars Collide.—After two cars collided in Yaldhurst road about 11.40 p.m. on Saturday, Desmond Teape, of 372 Yaldhurst road, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head injuries, and Joseph Hill, of 319 Riccarton road, was treated for head injuries.

Two In Hospital.—After two cars collided in Hagley avenue about 2.30 a.m. yesterday Leonie Carr, aged 18, of 12 Rata street, who suffered head injuries, and Gary Robinson, aged 21 of 8 Onawe place, who suffered scalp injuries, were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital.

Pedestrian Injured.—When be was struck by a car outside the Masonic Hotel, Southbrook, about 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, Grant Kearney, of the Masonic Hotel, suffered head, chest, arm and leg injuries. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. His condition was reported last evening as fairly satisfactory.

I Head Injuries.—When two cars collided at the comer of ISelwyn street and Moorhouse j avenue about 5.45 p.m. on ! Saturday, Alastair Shanks, of Madeley road, Mount Pleasant, suffered head and arm injuries. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. Hurt In Collision.—Gordon Stewart, of the Addington 'Army Barracks, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital I suffering from head injuries [after two cars collided about i 6.50 p.jp. on Saturday. I Head Injuries.—William Bruce Baldwin, of 53 Gilling street, Bryndwr, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head injuries after two cars collided in Aidwins road about 9.05 p.m. on Saturday.

Car Rolls Over.—When a car rolled over at Floods comer, Southbridge, about 2.15 a.m. yesterday Rodger Quigley, of No. 3 R.D., suffered head injuries. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital.

Head Injuries.—After two cars collided on the Main North road opposite St Bede’s College about 5.50 p.m. on Saturday one of the vehicles struck a pole. Basil Hanwright, of Fenchurch street, Northcote, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head injuries.

Fell On Car.—Mervyn Hatcher, of 15 Beveridge street, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head injuries after he fell and struck his head on a car at the King George Hotel about 6.20 p.m. on Saturday. Fell From Car. —Sheryl Anne McEwen, of 21 Buchanans road, suffered lacerations to the head when she fell from a moving car yesterday afternoon. She was treated at the Christchurch Hospital.

Car Hits Pole.—Head injuries were suffered by Thomas Orpwood, of 69 Tauiwi crescent, when a car struck a pole in Waterloo road about 9.30 p.m. on Saturday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital.

Scooter In Collision.— After a motor-scooter and a taxi collided at the corner of Manchester and St. Asaph streets about 8 p.m. on Saturday Leith Margaret Cocks, aged 17, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for head and leg injuries. Arm Injuries.—Violet McFarlane, of 174 Cashmere road, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for arm injuries after two cars collided at the corner of Stanmore road and Avonside drive about 7.35 a.m. on Saturday.
