Kidney From Chimpanzee (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ROME, May 14. Italian surgeons have successfully grafted the kidneV of a chimpanzee on to a 23-year-old youth. The youth, Antonio Farina, who underwent the operation in Rome a week ago, was in a satisfactory condition, his doctors said.
The youth was taken to hospital in a coma two months ago and was kept alive by means of artificial kidneys until the operation. His own kidneys were completely destroyed by a chronic illness.
