Municipal Golf Links
Sir, —On Sunday, May 8, I was refused the right to use the Municipal Golf Links by members of the Rawhiti Golf Club. May I inquire on whose authority the course was closed to the general public, who as ratepayers, supply the finance to develop and maintain the links?—Yours, etc., MICHAEL CROFTS. May 8, 1966.
[The Director of Reserves Mr H. G. Gilpin) replies: “It has been customary for the Rawhiti Golf Club to hold an open day tournament at the municipal golf links on the understanding that casual players are not precluded from using the links on that day. No authority has ever been given to the club to exclude casual players who have paid their green fees.”]
