Auckland Road £12.5m Budget
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 25. More than £12.5 million will be spent on highways and roads in the Auckland district between Wellsford and Mercer in the next three years. The Auckland District Roads’ Council adopted estimates for expenditure of £10,037,000 on State highways during the next three years, and £1,598,089 on municipal roads and £997,668 on county roads during the current year. The greatest allocation is again for the Auckland urban motorway scheme as part of the State highways programme. Of the counties’ works, the biggest job for the current year will be the Glenbrook steel mill access road, on which the Franklin County Council expects to spend £lBO,OOO this year of a total estimated cost of £450,000.
