NEW BRITISH X-RAY PICTURE INTENSIFIER.—An X-ray of this young woman shows up dearly on the screen. The equipment produces X-ray picture intensifiers giving clearer pictures and at less cost than has previously been possible. The reception is similar to that of domestic television sets, but the definition is dearer. The secret of the new high-quality pictures is a 4½in “eye” in the camera. Known as the image orthicon tube, it was developed at a cost of £300,000 especially for X-ray application.
