“Warmest Ever”
“Thank you for the warmest send-off I have ever had,” said the Queen Mother in a message to the chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board (Mr L. G. Amos) after the Royal yacht Britannia had sailed for Wellington on Sunday evening. The message, passed to the chairman by RearAdmiral J. P. Morgan,
Flag Officer, Royal Yachts, was given to the harbourmaster (Captain A. R. Champion) before he left the Britannia for the Harbour Board’s pilot launch in Camp Bay.
“Sincerest thanks for everything you have done to make this a memorable occasion,” continued the message. "Warmest thanks. Elizabeth R.”
