Nine Die In Week-end Accidents

The bodies of two elderly people were found in a gasfilled house at One Tree Hill, Auckland, early on Sunday morning, the Press Association reports. They were Mrs Elsie Kennedy, aged SO, of 66 Tawa road. One Tree Hill, and Albert Edward Dowsing, aged 85. an American on holiday in New Zealand. Mrs Kennedy's body was found In her bed. Mr Dowsing was lying in the kitchen. The police said there were no suspicious circumstances. Found Dead A fisherman was found dead in two feet of water at Ruatuna mudflat, near Opotiki on Sunday morning. He was Kruger Brown, aged 41. married, with nine children, of Opotiki. Fatally Hurt An agricultural contractor who was injured in a two-car collision in Rotorua on Saturday, died later in Rotorua Hospital. Boy Shot A 15-year-old boy on a spotlight shooting expedition in a party which included his father and younger brother, ■was killed when his shotgun discharged as he was getting through a fence on a farm at Kaituna, Marlborough, on Sunday night He was Bruce Alan Stuart Mears, son of Mr and Mrs A. R. Mears, of 32 Murphys road, Blenheim. The party of six was shooting on the property of Mr G. D. Holmes. Died In Fire An elderly woman died in a [fire which extensively damaged a house in Taradale, Hawke's Bay, yesterday. She was Mrs Cornelia Jacoba Zwaan aged 81. Mrs Zwaan arrived in New Zealand from Holland on February 18. Driver Killed The driver of a car was killed when the vehicle left the road on the ThamesPaeroa highway on Saturday night. He was David John George Thompson, aged 22, a machine moulder, of 202 Walter street, Thames. The accident is believed to have been caused by a stubaxle breaking. Two passengers, Petrina Therese Taylor, aged 15, and Brian Clive Low, aged 28, were injured.

Tractor Victim The Whangarei police have released the name of a man who was killed early on Wednesday when his tractor went out of control and overturned at Portland. He was Ernest James Duncan, aged 44, of Whangarei. Engine Exploded Two men suffered burns when the engine of a launch exploded in the Okahu Bay boat harbour, Auckland, on Saturday. They are the owner, Alfred Dickey, and Neville Scown, both of Kingsland. They were treated at Auckland Hospital for burns to the arms and legs. The cabin of the boat was burned down to the waterline.
