Changed Cars
A section of the large crowd in Fitzgerald avenue was treated to an unexpected close-up view of the Queen Mother, when she made an unscheduled change to an open car. As she stepped, smiling, from the black Rolls Royce which had brought her through the road tunnel and along Ferry road, she waved and spoke to those nearest her. The crowd, which had expected no more than a glimpse as she passed were delighted. They began singing “God Save the Queen,” and spontaneously cheered Her Majesty as the procession moved off again.
