SALVATION ARMY
Plan To Extend Hospital Guests from a number of Christchurch women’s and educational organisations would attend a special function at Bethany Hospital tomorrow afternoon aimed at bringing the community work of the Salvation Army before the public, the matron (Major J. M. Grigg) said. The function was part of a national community week preceding the annual Salvation Army national door-to-door appeal on April 30. It would enable the women to see the work for unmarried mothers being done at the home and inspect plans for a 12-bed extension. The home had accommodation for 16 unmarried mothers, but with a growing number of applications this was inadequate, Major Grigg said.
