New Brighton Blends Well
NEW BRIGHTON 18: I. H. Pen rose and G. Williamson tries; D. Beardsley try and and dropped goal; G. Stanley three conversions. ALBION 3: A. C. Harrison penalty goal. Fine blending of an efficient forward pack and enterprising back-play by New Brighton provided little opportunity for Albion and the home team won well on Jeiilicoe Park. The Albion forwards, P. Sands and M. Beaven, made a good impression, but Albion was well outclassed in the tight and had no answer to the powerful driving play of the New Brighton forwards.
The Albion backs received few opportunities and, for a change, the New Brighton backs gave a sparkling display, spearheaded by the first five-eighths, Beardsley. Referee: Mr B. E. Powell.
