CONTINUOUS SKIING
11,380 Miles In 104 Days (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter — Copyright) HELSINKI. The people of the isolated Finnish village of Padasjoki on Saturday ended a 104-day ski-ing marathon during which they broke the world non-stop ski-ing record and covered a distance of 11,380 miles. It began on January 9 when the first of about 1800 skiers set out on a track round the village church in an effort to beat the world record of 89) days of continuous ski-ing, held by the Finnish town of Joensuu. They broke the record on April 8 but decided to keep on ski-ing. The marathon was the idea of a committee headed by a focal police constable, A. Leppahen.
