“DINOSAUR " AT LARGE
Policemen Not Amused Canterbury XJniveratty students preparing for their revue next week were Questioned by the police on Sunday morning when they were attempting to back a truck earlying a 12ft high “dinosaur” from the Civic Theatre into Worcester street just before the Queen Mother’s arrival at Christchurch Cathedral. Just as the truck was moving out on to Worcester street, about three minutes before the Royal party was due to pass, five policemen and a sergeant surrounded the truck, and one policeman told the students to “get that horse out of here.” The students tried to explain that they were trying to take the “dinosaur,” which has a leading part in the revue, to Helen Connon Hall so that it could be measured for the pants it has to wear on the stage, and did not know that the Royal party was near. This genuine reason was not accepted at first. All the students had their names taken by the police and were being questioned until a person responsible for the revue arrived and explained to the police that the students had not meant any irreverence to the Queen Mother by having the "dinosaur” there at that time.
