Police Thank Public
Chief-Superintendent G. W. Alty, officer-in-charge of the Christchurch police districts, yesterday thanked the public for their “well-controlled exuberance”* on Saturday and Sunday.
“The police task of seeing Her Majesty to and from the Royal yacht Britannia and various functions was completed without any fuss or bother, and this was directly attributable to the public’s willingness to co-operate at all times,” said Mr Alty. “The excellent behaviour of the crowds made the job of the police a pleasant one.”
