Cricketing Plenty
The rather meagre batting averages in this year’s senior cricket competition—only one batsman scored 500 runs—pale beside the efforts of North Aucklanders. In the cricket season just finished, 20 batsmen passed
600 runs in Northland senior cricket, including five who scored 1000 runs. However, even in this welter of runs the bowlers had their say. As many as 26 players took 50 wickets or more—only four did so in Christchurch.
