CHATHAMS STOCK
While transport charges have always been a dominating factor in the sale of Chatham Islands stock, the margin to the vendors this season has reached its highest level for some years. It has cost just on 30s a head this season to market ewes and wethers at Addington. that cost being based on a value of 70s a head. The main item of expenditure has been sea freight at £1 Is lid a head. In contrast, commission charged on the sale of the sheep accounted for only 2s 2d a head.
