Bastille In Form For Southland Today

"The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL. Bastille, which is running out his hack nominations, should prove too good for the middle distance hacks in the Rosedale Handicap on the opening of the Southland Racing Club’s autumn meeting today.

The Hazlett pair, Ettrick and Mosque, will be the favourites for the first leg of the T.A.B. double, the Gordons Gin Handicap, in which Carpenter, Tundra, Golden Glen and Golden Boa will all have a following. The second leg will be on the Greymouth Handicap, for which Flying York and Turle will dispute favouritism.

The Faux Tirage four-year-old, which heads the handicap at 9-2, will be attempting to win his third race on end and although the opposition is as strong as any he has struck recently, he should again carry the day.
