INVERCARGILL, April 22. The maternity hospital in the Western Southland coalmining centre of Nightcaps won a six-months reprieve from closing with the announcement that two retired maternity nurses would run the home for six months, starting next month. Misses H. and V. Burnett, who formerly owned the Elizabeth George maternity home in Invercargill, have offered their services to the Southland Hospital Board. At a special meeting of the board, members greeted the offer with applause.
