Call For More Recognition f.V Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 21. The Red Cross Society would hold a national Red Cross week, from May 1 to 8, the society's Dominion president (Mr E. Button) said today. He appealed for greater recognition of the society’s world - wide humanitarian work in peace and warI “The • society has undertaken several projects this j year which will benefit people |in such widely separated i areas as the South Pacific and i Greece.” he said. “These projects include the! financing of a physiotherapy I clinic in Tonga, the estab-j lishment of a Red Cross organisation in the Cook group,! the Tokelaus and Niue, the ! financing of a disaster relief seminar in Singapore and the ! provision of a new wing for! a boarding school in Greece Most of these projects will cost some £20,000.” i Mr Button said the Red Cross Society, with the St. John Ambulance Association, had accepted the responsibil-j ity for training civil defence staff in first aid and home nursing, to provide a trained body of people who could help should an earthquake or other natural disaster strike.
