SUBSTANTIAL PROGRESS
Ellesmere A. and P. Assn. Report In a review of the last year given to the annual meeting of the Ellesmere Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Mr W. V. Chatterton, the retiring: president, said that the year! had been one of substantial' progress, and notwithstanding I capital expenditure from i income the financial position was very satisfactory. The ! purchase of railway property running through the showground had added to the assets and provided for additional access and parking i space. Boundary shelter | belts of pine and ornamental trees had been planted and much of the work had been done by voluntary labour. The show had been most successful and membership had been fully maintained. Presenting the balance-I sheet, the treasurer (Mr J. T. B. Purser) said that the show : account had shown a credit, j the first time for several I years. The bank balance showed a credit of £998 and there was £644 in a special reserve fund. Assets excluded liabilities by almost £12,000.

Mason and I. S. Smith, j honorary veterinary surgeons, ’ Messrs J. Stafford, G. G. Thomson, J. W. McLean and J. Duncan; honorary medical officers, Drs. W. G. Volckman and R. A. Cartwright: general committee. Messrs H. C. A. Abbott, E. L. Adams, K. | Bailey, S. Boon, J. S. Brooks,; T. E. M. Brooks, R. B. Coe, A. i A. Greenwood, W. Johnson.' R. H. Kendall, L. B. Legg, W. I K. Lemon. J. A. McLachlan, I L. A. McLachlan. A. A. C. McPherson, I. Mcßae, E. K. Millar, R. J. Millar, W. Millar, G. D. Neave, A. A. Russell, W. S. Smellie. D. A. L. Tong and M. N. Watson. Mr J. W. Calder, formerly a professor at Lincoln College, gave an address in the course of which he discussed the possibility of changing marketing conditions for New Zealand farm produce.
