Britannia At Timaru
(from Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, April 21. The Royal yacht Britannia berthed at No. 1 wharf extension. Timaru, at 9.30 a.m. today, and was officially welcomed by the chairman of the Timaru Harbour Board (Mr E. W. D. Unwin) and the secretary (Mr N. de V. Lawrence). Several hundred persons lined the promenade on the top of the bay hill as the vessel entered the harbour at 8 55 a.m. The Queen Mother will rejoin the ship after a public welcome at the Theatre Royal at 4.15 p.m. tomorrow, and the Britannia will sail for Lyttelton at 11 p.m. Yesterday afternoon, the Royal Marine Band, which had played on the Britannia's upper deck as she approached, also played before a dense crowd in front of the Municipal Buildings, and was later entertained at the new Century Hall.
