Gerrard, won two matches, then lost the third, to be eliminated from the British hardcourt men’s singles tennis championships yesterday. Gerrard beat H. Fauquier (Canada), 5-7, 6-0, 6-2, having lost the first set on the previous day before bad light halted play. He had an easy second round win over R. W. Dixon (Britain), 6-2, 6-1, but was beaten, 9-7, 5-7, 6-1, by G. Stilwell (Britain) in the third round. Other New Zealanders were also unsuccessful. J. R. McDonald was beaten, 4-6, 6-1, 64, by J. Cottrill (Australia), and the young doubles pair, O. Parun and K. Woolcott, lost 3-6, 1-6, to J. Brown and F. Bautista (Thailand).
