Body Found In River
The body of a woman missing from her home in Sydenham since Sunday evening was found in the Heathcote river at Woolston yesterday afternoon. She was Ivy Mersey Adams, aged 77, a widow, of 65 Brisbane street. A Christchurch City Council employee engaged in cleaning the river found the body about 2.30 p.m. There were no signs of violence on the body. Mrs Adams lived on her own. Police messages seeking her whereabouts had been published and broadcast since Monday. An inquest into her death will be opened before the Christchurch Coroner (Mr A. T. Bell) for the purposes of identification today.
