NO FURTHER RIOTING
Curfew Raised In Kowloon (N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copyright) HONG KONG, April 11. The Kowloon region of Hong Kong was calm and without incidents last night, the first curfew-free night since last week’s rioting. Strong contingents of police and British troops continued to patrol the area and thousands more stood mobilised at strategic points.
The riots, stemming from a proposed five-cent rise in the harbour ferry fare, were estiAiated by one source today to have caused damage totalling 20 million dollars.
Best Film.—A critics’ poll organised by the trade publication “Film Daily,” chose “The Sound of Music” as the best film of 1965.—New York, April 11.
