N.Z.B.C.

Sir, —Your “Not allowed to speak” headline was very apt for a South Island iewspaper to print regarding the North Island-administered New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation. The comment by Mr Stringer made “The Press” headline even more appropriate because, as reported in your newspaper some days ago, one of the new members ; of the New Zealand Broad- : casting Corporation is a ' liaison officer of the National i Party. Does the Broadcasting i Corporation tell Mr Stringer

what do do, or does Mr Stringer tell the corporation what to do? Not being interested in the political side, I would appreciate a South Island voice being allowed to speak on the N.Z.B.C. board. —Yours, etc., DIZZY. April 4, 1966. [Mr C. A. McFarlane, chairman of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation, replies: “Obviously Mr G. H. Stringer, as Director-General and chief executive of the N.Z.8.C., advises the corporation, but policy decisions rest with that body. The corporation has a South Island voice in the person of Mr Reeves Harris, of Christchurch.”]
