STATISTICS COURSE

Island Health Workers (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 10. The South Pacific Commission's first training course in New Zealand will be held in Wellington soon. The near month • long course—on vital and health statistics—-will be opened on April 18 by the DirectorGeneral of Health (Dr. D. P. Kennedy). The regional statistician and programme organiser for the Western Pacific regiion of the World Health Organisation from Manila, and Mr V. S. Pickering of the Commonwealth Bureau of Census and Statistics in Canberra, will be among the lecturers. Doctors and health workers frob Fiji, Western Samoa, Tonga, Papua-New Guinea, the United States Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands and the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, will attend the course.

Organiser and supervisor of the course will be the commission's medical statistician, Mr C. E. Gardiner, formerly the New Zealand Department of Health’s medical statistician.
