First To Arrive A 1915 Model T. Ford, driven by Mr G. B. Jelf, of Rangiora, was the first vehicle to arrive at the Levin Domain during the national vet-' eran and vintage car rally’s! reliability trial on Saturday.! The car was one of 180 en- i tries in the rally, the largest' held in the Wellington district Warm Day A light north-westerly wind yesterday did little to mar the Easter holiday period in Canterbury. Temperatures were low in the morning but had risen to 65 degrees by noon and reached a maximum of 67 degrees about 2 p.m. At 4 p.m. the temperature had dropped only slightly to 65 degrees at the weather office at Harewood. There was heavy rain in the foothills and on the West Coast. On Saturday a maximum temperature of 77 degrees was reached soon after 2 p.m. There was a brief shower at 3.30 p.m. w-hen .03 inches of rain fell. Unrelated Events The cancellation of supervised evening homework classes at the Tokoroa High School and the suspension of seven boys at the school were "entirely unrelated,” the deputy chairman of the school board, Mr K. B. Holdaway, said on Saturday. It was a coincidence that the events had occurred on the same day last week, he said.
