PRINCE GRANT HOT SYDNEY CUP CHOICE

The New Zealand-bred three-year-old, Prince Grant, has become an even shorter-priced favourite for the £16.000 Sydney Cup (two mrJes) at Randwick today, after Craftsman’s win at the course on Saturday. Bookmakers sliced Prince Grant’s odds after Craftsman won the weight-for age Autumn Stakes because Prince Grant had beaten him at Warwick Farm the previous week. Craftsman was scratched from the cup last week, when his connexions decided he had no chance of giving Prince Grant 181 b, as he was handicapped to do. The second favourite is Striking Force, which carried 9st 31b, 71b more than his weight today, when he ran third to Craftsman and Versailles. Closely behind are the New Zealand-bred challengers.
