MANANA BEST OF GREAT EASTER PROSPECTS TODAY

£2OOO Sprint Race At Riccarton

Court Belle and Manana could.win the Canterbury Jockey Club’s TA.B. double at Riccarton today in the hands of the leading jockey, R. J. Skelton.

Court Belle is the second top-weight with 8-10 in the £3600 George Adams Handicap. Manana will be one of three runners from J. C. Tomkinson’s stable in the £2OOO Great Easter Handicap, and will carry the colours of the CJ.C. chairman, Mr D. W. J. Gould.

Court Belle is a close relation of Palisade. She is three years younger than Mr A. T. Ot trey’s great campaigner, and, with 211 b less, stands a great chance of winning her third rich 12furlong race in the last year. Palisade returned - to Riccarton at the week-end looking bright and strong. He has obviously thrived on his spectacular programme of autumn racing. He has a formidable record at Riccarton, and unless there is an unexpected change in the weather he should have conditions to aid him in his attempt to master IM. The stablemates, Manana and Pharasal. looked an even match when they galloped at Riccarton on Saturday, and their combined efforts might be more than adequate to keep the visiting sprinters out in the Great Easter Handicap, the second leg of the T. B. double. Pharasal is bracketed with Shipmate, another swift sprinter—one that might be hard to peg back if allowed free plav in the lead. Rag Doll has dropped out of the Champagne Stakes leaving the race without a North Island-trained runner | although the Gore-trained Conde is owned by Mr T. C ‘ Lowry, of Hastings. Agrippa and Talie. both from Riccarton. should be a match for the best of the others at six fur’.ongs. fields with riders and form comments follow: FIRST LEG OH.COURSE DOUBLE U. *.m._ OFAWA HIGH.WEIGHT, KOO: Of st lb. 7475 Hushaway <l4).
