RED CROSS EFFORT

Fund-Raising By Juniors A splendid effort by Hororata Junior Red Cross members in raising more than £42 at a bring-and-buy was reported at the annual meeting of the sub-branch. The children had sent donations to several organisations and contributed goods they had made and collected. A highlight for members had been the visit of a Japanese Red Cross member. Contributions were made to the Save The Children Fund, £l5; assessment, £42; Western Samoa and Islands Hurricane Fund, £5; Christmas gifts for the elderly, £2; library, £2: South Pacific Fund, £2; Red Cross emergency cupboard, £2; 100 per cent disabled fund, £2. Officers elected were:— president, Mrs S. J. Hunt; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. Stone, B. Halliday, F. Wright, G. C. Smith, and W. R. Tilson; committee, Mesdames M. Ballagh, F. Butle, B. Wright, K. Keliaway, A. Mitchell, D. Phillips, B. Clarge, F. Birdling, G. H. Hall, and Miss D. Ballagh; secretary-treasurer, Mrs R. Ballagh; liaison officer, Hororata School Junior Red Cross, Mrs N. Moore.
