Big Reduction Announced
(.V.Z.P..4 -Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 8. The United States Defence Department has announced a big cut in the number of men to be conscripted in June.
The quota of 15,000 for June is the smallest since conscription figures rose sharply last August because of the Vietnam war.
The department had asked for 34.600 young men for induction in May. The decrease in the June call is primarily due to the fact that voluntary enlistments normally increase in June at the end of the school year, the department said.
