Passengers Safe
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MIAMI, April 10. Only two people died, both apparently of heart attack, when nearly 500 passengers and crew were forced to abandon the Caribbean cruise ship Viking Princess, on fire on Friday off the Cuban coast
When the captain of the ship, Otto Thoresen, stepped ashore at the United States naval base at Quantanamo Bay, Cuba, the survivors applauded him. They said the gallant seamanship of him and his crew averted a disaster.
The smouldering, fireblackened ship remained afloat today south of Cuba in the windward passage where the fire struck. A Liberian freighter, evidently interested in salvage, took her under tow. Her destination was not known.
