HOCKEY “It was disappointing to read a statement made by the secondary schools’ hockey association delegate on the loss of players. He said he did not want all secondary school playefs continuing on and did not think much of them as contributmuch to New Zealand hockey. If this attitude is typical of that delegate’s body, then surely the loss of players will continue. Apparently he only wants the cream of the players for his teams. Let me remind him that hockey is a team sport and, although individual talent may shine, the team spirit is the main thing. Just as someone has to lose, so someone has to be a poor player in order that the good may be judged. So, Mr Wilson, go forth, hockey stick in hand, to recruit and coach all comers, for if this drain of players continues, you, too, might find yourself HOCKEY THREE AND AWAY.
