Pet Lions Shot
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, April 8. Police shot and killed two full-grown male African lions last night after they escaped into a residential area in Vancouver, in the State of Washington. The police spotted the lions about five minutes after they had got away from their cages. The first lion was shot and killed immediately, the other about half an hour later. The animals were “a little on the wild side” and bad to be shot. The lions were owned by Mr Robert Hedges, who kept them caged at his house.
