TRAFFIC SIGNALS

Control By TV (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 6. The Auckland City Council tonight approved in principle plans for a co-ordinated traffic signal system for the central business district. Under the system major traffic lights at intersections will be linked by cable to a central control. Staff in the control room will be able to watch the intersections by closed-circuit television. The City Engineer said the cost of introducing the new system would be about £200,000 and that the work would be carried out in stages and financed from loans.
