Police Methods
Sir.—lt would be sensible to ignore the recent splurge of petty and trivial criticisms of police methods. It is about time that those who call themselves “law-abiding citizens” stopped abusing the police and realised what a fine job they do. A policeman’s task is a thankless one. He is always there, 24 hours a day, preserving law and order. He is out patrolling the streets regardless of the weather, and the only thanks he gets is abuse. I would like the head of the Christchurch police to know that there are a lot of people who appreciate their wonderful work. They carry out their duty courteously and efficiently.—Yours, etc., R.G.F. April 6, 1966.
