Swimmer Qualifies (NZ. Press Association! NEW PLYMOUTH. Miss Kathleen Taylor, of New Plymouth, swam inside the Empire Games qualifying time for the 110 yards butterfly In a special attempt at the Moana Pool. Dunedin, on Monday night. In an unpaced time trial, the 17-year-old Miss Taylor recorded 72.8 sec, beating the qualifying time by o.2sec and becoming the second-fastest woman butterfly swimmer in New Zealand. In her attempt to swim inside the qualifying time. Miss Taylor has been at Dunedin since the New Zealand championships, in which she finished second to the Empire Games nominee, Miss H. Kerr (Auckland) in the 110 yd butterfly.
