FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A weak trough of low pressure is moving east across the North Island. A narrow ridge of high pressure extends from the Tasman Sea on to the South Island and is moving northeast. Forecast. Canterbury.—Moderate winds, northerlies predominating; weather partly cloudy with moderate temperatures. Outlook: Showers developing. Marlborough.—Winds variable at first, northwesterlies developing later; a few showers at first, but otherwise partly cloudy with moderate temperatures. Outlook: Partly cloudy. Nelson.—Light variable, winds; scattered cloudy areas at first: otherwise fine with mild day temperatures. Outlook: Partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds; mainly fine at first, but cloud increasing during the day with scattered showers developing: moderate day temperatures. Outlook: Rain developing.
