MAIN TRUNK EXPRESSES
Heaviest Run Tomorrow (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 5. Several of the expresses to run between Wellington and Auckland on Thursday night are believed to be the heaviest passenger trains on the route. Some will weigh more than 500 tons when fully laden with passengers and luggage, or more than 660 tons including the locomotive. Each of the three trains in each direction on April 7 will be hauled by two dieseieleetric locomotives north of Paekakariki.
The maximum weight of Wellington - Auckland expresses normally is about 380 tons, or 12 vehicles, hauled by one locomotive.
