Annual Service Held
About 900 members of the junior section of the Girls’ Brigade, and their parents, attended the annual service of the section at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon. The service was conducted by the Rev. C. R. Marshall and the lesson was read by the Rev. G. H. J. Yearbury. Visitors were welcomed by the junior regional assistant, Mrs B. Andrew, and the regional commissioner, Miss D. Strachan read the new aim for the junior section. An illustrated address was given by the Rev. I. W. Ogier. An offering was taken up for the work of the brigade in the Pacific Islands. The colour bearers were Miss R. Brandon and Mrs A. W. Matthews.

Betty has been at college for two months, and find the children a little different from home. “They are much more free, their manner is quite different,” she said. Commercial training was not a regular course at school for Liliah, so she took classes part time, but Valerie was able to take her tuition at school. When they return home, jobs will be waiting for them. AH three have signed contracts. For two years Valerie and Liliah will work in Government offices, and Betty will teach for at least five years. Her probationary assistant year will be included in her training. Liliah is a Malayan beauty who likes to wear her traditional long sarong, but Betty and Valerie, both Chinese, prefer modern Western styles. They all like modem music and when asked about their hobbies put singing first. “Pop music we like,” Betty said, with a wide smile. Betty says she is the studious one in her family of two boys and three girls, Valerie is an only daughter with two brothers. Her parents are
