Yacht Races For Learners
The final of series of races for learners conducted by the Greymouith Yacht Club on the Erua lagoon during the weekend was won by B. Hall, of Blaketown, sailing in Crew Cut. Spook Too (G. Klempel) was second and Pip (R. Vincent) third. M. Shand Cup: Firpo (G. Allen), Imin, 1; Rascal (J. Skelton), Imin, 2; Menace (K. Skelton), scr, 3. Buchanan Enterprises Cup: Hi-Fi (K. 2000 Too Far Away.—Salisbury City Council’s general purposes committee has decided that it is premature to plan celebrations to mark the year 2000. The committee received a letter from the World Association of the Year 2000 saying that 22 cities in South Africa, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada had planted celebration trees or named celebration avenues.— Salisbury.
