East And West
The East-Shirley and WestUniversity senior teams are joint winners of the senior cricket competition’s Hadlee Trophy. The conditions of the trophy’ lay down that it shall be awarded to the team showing the most consistent form in the field throughout the season . . . with “regard paid to fielding, appearance and general conduct on the field of play.”
This year, points were awarded thus:—fielding, 10; sportsmanship, 5; punctuality. 3: and dress, 2. As a rule, 20 points (the maximum) are awarded to each team for each match and deductions made for blemishes of the four main requirements.
Thus, this year's possible total was 200. and East-Shir-ley and West-University each scored 164. For East-Shirley, it is some compensation for finishing bottom in the senior competition. The other teams in order were;—
Riccarton 1591, Lancaster Park 156, St. Albans 155, Old Collegians 152. Sydenham 152. High School Old Boys 146.
