Goods Waggons Derailed Near Glenavy

DUNEDIN, April 4. The main trunk railway, a mile north of Glenavy, was blocked about five hours tonight when four waggons and a guard's van of a Lyttelton D.medin goods train were derailed at 75 pm. Fifteen other waggons were damaged, most only slightly. The cause of the derailment was a broken axle on a coalladen waggon. Two waggons
immediately behind, another waggon and the guard’s van were derailed. As the train passed over the wheel and broken axle embedded in the middle of the track the remaining waggons were damaged. Passengers travelling by rail-car were taken from Oamaru to Studholme by bus There was no delay to rail-car schedules.
