Sir lan Maclennan, the British High Commissioner, and Lady Maclennan, will leave today for Britain on three months’ leave.—(PA.) The Rev. K. J. Mackie has accepted a position as chaplain at Shepparton High School, Victoria, under the Council for Christian Education in Schools. He has been general secretary for the New Zealand Council for Christian Education for the last four years.—(P.A) The Hillmorton High School Board last evening elected Miss R. F. C. Tyndall chairman and Mr G. A. Johnstone deputy-chairman. Members of the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association yesterday praised the work of a former president, Mr W. A. Bascand. The occasion was Mr Bascand’s retirement from active business life. He has been associated with the printing industry for 50 years.
