Good Start By Breasley

On his first mount of the new season in England the Australian jockey A. (Scobie) Breasley repeated last year’s victory in the Lincoln Cup by bringing home the four-year-old Riot Act to win the £9OOO prize at Doncaster last week.

“The Times” commented: “With a typical absence of flurry or fuss Breasley took up the running on the Ribot colt a furlong and a half from home to beat le Garcon by half a length. “Throughout the last three furlongs Riot Act was going very much better than any of his 48 rivals.” Riot Act has an international background. He was bought at the Saratoga sales in the United States on behalf of Mrs Josephine Bryce for 20,000 dollars. Mrs Bryce is an American, but a grand supporter of English racing. Riot Act, whose dam is Rave Notice, won his first four races last year. He is trained by Sam Armstrong, who had had only one previous runner in the race. Le Carcon, the runner-up, was ridden by the Australian, Ron Hutchinson.
