Hushaway and Misjudge, rival candidates for the North Canterbury Racing Club’s President’s Handicap tomorrow, made fast time over seven furlongs on the trial grass at Riccarton yesterday.

Taggart, led Takatua (G. W. Mein) by a length after running a mile in Imin 45sec. the last half in 50 l-ssec. Charlborough did his work well under a good weight. Time and Tide (A. J. Stokes) and We’ll Find Out (B. Collins) took Imin 48 4-5 sec for their mile and 52 3-5 sec for the last half. Research (R. Murphy) dash-
ed away from the mile and spurted half a mile down the back in 49 3-ssec. Not surprisingly his pace fell away in the straight and he took Imin 46 4-ssec to complete the mile. Skelton), recorded 51sec for their half-mile. Coral Prince (D. Tucker) followed in 52 2-ssec. and Gingerbread (McCann) in 52 l-ssec. Tixall (R. Moir) and VijayMani (W. H.
