'Could Lose Jobs’

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 30. Hundreds of people could lose their job in the plastics industry if the new import allocation of raw material was maintained, Mr H. T. W. Nolan, managing director of Consolidated Plastics Industries (N.Z.) Ltd., said in Auckland today. Mr Nolan said his first impression of the new import schedule was that it dealt a bitter blow to the plastics industry.

The schedule cuts raw material allocations for the industry by one-third.

Mr Nolan said his company was one of the largest in the country with 600 workers. Many other people were dependant on the company’s production.
